Why holidays mess with your relationship with food and how to stop the cycle.

I’ve just got back from the Amalfi Coast and I’m going to talk to you about holidays for this year, because this stuff needs a little time.
Just like when Christmas comes round and all the crafting programs are on but you’ve actually got no time to craft anything…I’m your Kirsty Allsop for you relationship with food.
If you've got a holiday coming up this year, whether it's booked, half booked, or you're just thinking about it, I want to talk to you today.
Because there's something that happens to almost every woman I work with the moment that holiday is confirmed.
The excitement.
And then almost immediately after it, the dread.
You know exactly what I'm talking about.
The mental maths kicks in before you've even closed the booking confirmation tab.
Two pounds a week. Four weeks. That's eight pounds.
Then comes the restriction.
The “I'm being good, I've got a holiday coming up”.
The checking whether the holiday clothes still fit.
The bargaining.
The rules.
The countdown that takes up more headspace than the actual packing.
And that's before you've even got on the plane.
Then you get there.
And it's gorgeous and you're happy and you want to enjoy it. But there's that background noise isn't there. At the buffet. At the restaurant. Sitting by the pool.
Should I be eating this?
I've already had loads today.
I'll be good tomorrow.
You come home feeling heavier.
Not just physically, mentally.
Exhausted by the whole thing.
And instead of easing back in, you press the full f**k it button because you can't see the way back.
So you just don't bother.
I've just come back from the Amalfi Coast. I had a pizza the size of my head overlooking the Amalfi harbour. I had the little cakes with the espressos in the coffee shops (fantastic by the way). I had Aperol Spritzes in the sunshine while Luca napped. I packed completely wrong, nearly melted and had the absolute best time.
And when I got home?
Eggs on toast. Bananas. Fruit. Protein porridge the next day.
Just got back to normal.
No guilt, no spiral, no chaos.
Not because I'm special.
Because I've done the work on my relationship with food and I have the tools to navigate it. That's it.
And so has Jo.
Jo is an ex client, now a friend, she's absolutely brilliant. She did my mindful eating workshop and then went all inclusive to Tenerife in the middle of wedding planning. High powered job. Stress through the roof.
This holiday was her chance to breathe.
She sent me a voice message when she got back.
She'd listened to her body the whole time. Had the fruit from the buffet. Stopped when she'd had enough. Didn't restrict once. And she'd come back a couple of pounds lighter.
For Jo, who has restricted hard her whole life and always rebounded fast, that was a revelation.
An absolute revelation.
No mental gymnastics. No white knuckling.
Just her and her body finally having a conversation that made sense.
This week on Chatting with Cara I'm talking all about the full holiday food cycle.
Before. During. After. Why it happens the way it does. And what it actually looks like when it doesn't have to be like that anymore.
No diet tips. No meal plans. Just the stuff that actually works.
And if you have that oh that's me moment while you're listening, good.
Because that moment matters.
This is fixable. Completely and utterly fixable.
I work with women 1-1 over six months. We transform how you think and feel around food from the ground up. We unpick the patterns, dismantle the rules that have been running the show for decades and get you to a place where a holiday is just a holiday.
Six months. £199 a month. Your relationship with food completely transformed.
I've currently got a lady getting ready for a trip to Japan. She loves sushi and she's triggered by holidays. When she told me I just smiled and said, not a problem, we can sort that.
Because we absolutely can.
If you've got a holiday in the next six months, let's get started now.
A free consultation call costs you nothing. We'll have a proper chat about what's going on, where you want to get to, and I'll show you exactly what working together looks like.
You don't have to dread another summer.
Ciao Ciao
