I've been talking to a few women the last couple of weeks who do very little or no exercise.
In fact one lady has signed up to coaching with me last week and if you want to do the same you can enquire here.
I see a lot of "fitness" content on social media, in adverts and daily and all the marketing is very much aimed at (and shows) people who are already "fit".
Doing pretty hard things, high intensity and with all the gear.
But I know this doesn't represent women who didn't like PE at school, feel like they haven't got the time, body or motivation to exercise.
So if that is you, I'm going to tell you the four steps that I would use to get you moving consistently and enjoying it.
Sounds good?
Here's tip 1 -
Start small and work up
In your own house get moving.
20 mins (lots of breaks if you need)
4 simple exercises and rinse and repeat, become successful at them, learn them and keep doing them.
(This is the first workout that I've given to my new coaching client, because I know she will feel awesome afterwards and want to do it again).
2 - Get consistent
Something is better than nothing, starting is a great step and leaving the all or nothing perfectionists traits at the door.
3 - Manage your expectations
Body transformations don't happen over night, fitness doesn't increase straight away, in fact the first few workouts will feel like you aren't getting anyway, however you are and you will soon be flying with them and surprising yourself with how strong you are. Patience is the key here and not looking for those rewards straight away.
4 - Progress
When you are feeling stronger and fitter that's when it's time to go! That's where a coach who knows how to get the best out of a workout comes into play. You don't need to be doing harder, longer workouts - you can still stay at home with the same set up but with more intention. I can't make any more time for you but I can make sure the time you do have is optimised and you are working efficiently in that time.
That's it they are my four top tips to get you moving.
There's nothing about burning calories or flogging yourself at the gym. It's about adapting and integrating exercise into your life and seeing what your body is capable of instead of what she looks like.
