How not to press the F**K it button this December

December is BUSYYY isn't it?
I always think those annual get-togethers would be so much more convenient in July....
But you are holding everything, making magic for the kids, doing all the life admin, going to every event and buying presents for everyone.
It's busy and food is everywhere.
The people pleaser in you is working overdrive.
The perfectionist traits are shouting rather than whispering.
And in amongst this overwhelm it can be really tempting to press the F**K it button and deal with it all in January.
But here's how you don't do that -
- Manage your expectations, don't lower them, just manage them. Be really realistic with your ambitions and allow them to match the time and energy you have.
Putting less on your plate and finishing it is better than piling more and
more on and feeling guilty for leaving it.
- Know your triggers.
What is something that could push you over the edge?
Is it the in-laws visiting? Is it writing those christ as cards which sounds really nice but actually you want to give up after 5? Is it Debbie from the school run with it all together?
What are your triggers which tip that overwhelm balance.
Be mindful of them, notice them and acknowledge that this is a trigger and can send you down a path that you don't want to go.
Then don't go down the path.
- Don't think you will do it all in January.
Because you won't.
You and I know that.
It will just make it worse and start a miserable cycle.
Your future self will thank you - trust me!
Do yourself a favour and take a few minutes to go through these and then don't do it!
I am running the Virtual Mindful Eating Workshop next Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm - so if emotional eating is your default in December and you always swear it's going to change in January.
Then it's for you.
