Food can't heal you...I'm sorry

Updated: Nov 10, 2025

Everyone seems to be ill or coming down with something at the moment.

The back to school germs are in full force, covid is going round and we have narrowly escaped the stomach bug which threatened to close the nursery last week.

As an accredited nutritionist I'm just here to remind you that food can't heal you.

As much as the advertising points to having a ginger shot to cure the common cold.

It's just not going to work.

Because food can't do that.

Yes it can support health.

Yes it can give you energy.

But it can't "heal".

From a relationship with food perspective, I see this language used a lot.

Often harmlessly (or so it seems).

You see, food is one thing that we can control.

It's pretty easy to control.

But when you pop it on a pedestal and ask it to do something which it can't (heal).

Then you are actually delaying your healing because you aren't looking in the right place for it.

The same is true for emotional eating.

Food is used to numb, distract or avoid emotions or situations.

It's never the answer.

If you want to explore this further, have a look at my Emotional Eating Handbook below and see what problems you can solve without using food......

Have a listen to this weeks Chatting with Cara Podcast where I delve into this in more depth.
